Which customers are required to activate?

All customers who purchase FS Pro or a product including FS Pro will be required to activate the software. Activation is fast and easy, in most cases a simple "one-click" process and you will be able to use the software.

Why are customers being asked to activate their software?

Product activation is a simple way to verify the software license and stop the spread of software piracy. Over time, reduced piracy means that the software industry can invest more in product development, quality and support. This ensures better products and more innovation for the customer.

Trial period

Is there a trial period during which FS Pro will work without being activated?

Yes. You may opt out of activating FS Pro for 30 days before you are required to activate.

Privacy

How does FS Pro activation respect customer privacy?

FS Pro activation is completely anonymous, and no personally identifiable information is collected (other than IP address and other machine data so we can identify your PC for activation purposes but this does not include personal information such as your name or PC name).

Activation is different from product registration. If you wish, you may register FS Pro by providing your name and contact information. Registration is for those customers who want to receive future communications on product updates, service releases and other special offers. Any information provided remains secure and private.

Reactivation

If a reinstallation of the software is needed, must I purchase a new license?

In general, no. If the same version of the software is reinstalled on the same machine or is not concurrently installed on any other machine, no new license is required.

Deactivation

Will FS Pro ever need to be deactivated?

Yes. If you want to move your license onto another computer, or are planning to upgrade any hardware or the operating system (since activation may see this as a new computer), you should deactivate your software.

Can FS Pro be remotely deactivated?

Yes, FS Pro can be remotely deactivated. This can be necessary when your hard drive crashes or you forgot to deactivate FS Pro on an old computer yourself.

If I don't have internet access can I still use FS Pro?

Yes, you can activate the product manually if you go to a computer with internet access and provide your Installation ID and license key to the activation server, via a browser window (perhaps on another person's PC).

How do I (de)activate FS Pro?

You can activate or deactivate FS Pro by clicking the Windows Start button, and selecting All Programs > Information Mapping > FS Pro 4.2 > (De)Activate FS Pro.
