Reduced OHS incidents through increased visibility

Construction and resources

Background

A large resources company developed a technology-based OHS system for national implementation. By centralising OHS information and reporting, the system provides greater visibility of accidents, streamlines data recording, and ensures that critical OHS information is accessible throughout the business.

Driver

The organisation’s goal was to reduce the number of accidents, injuries and near misses by increasing the visibility of these incidents to initiative prompt corrective action from people at all levels. Because the system related to OHS, our client sought to support the implementation with a comprehensive formal learning program that could be used by the business in the future.

What we did

TP3 was engaged to document the OHS system, participate in user testing, design and deliver training for its users, and co-ordinate the training in metropolitan, rural and regional locations.

The project involved:

  • Working with the company’s subject matter experts and the software developer to scope the system
  • Participating in system user testing
  • Designing a training program as the system was being developed, tested and adjusted
  • Co-ordinating all aspects of the program roll-out, including venue sourcing, remote technical set up, participant registrations, and logistics
  • Delivering consistent training nationally, using a pool of consultants who had completed the project’s train-the-trainer workshop

Business impact

The project manager wrote to us saying: “You have done such a fantastic job. I can’t begin to say how impressed we have been. This would have been a difficult issue to tackle without your help. Despite very tight timelines, changing software, and wide spread and remote locations, Edel and her colleagues have delivered an outstanding result.”
