Continuous Improvement

Before the course

Pre-course work is an integral part of the program and forms part of the course. To ensure you get the most out of the program please undertake the following tasks:

  • Read the Wikipedia article on “Kaizen” and summarise the key points.
  • Consider an area or process in your workplace that would benefit from improvement. Answer the following questions:
    • Why does the area need improvement?
    • What would you do to improve it?
    • Who do you need to involve in the improvement process?

After 2 weeks

Now that you’re back in the demands of day-to-day work, take the time to revisit your action plan and your manual.

In particular you might want to review some of the key concepts from the course:

After 4 weeks

The following activities will support you in achieving your continuous improvement goals.

  • Review your organisation’s continuous improvement policy. If there isn’t one, consider developing one based on the principles you learned during training.
  • Read the Wikipedia article on Total Quality Management (TQM).
